Day 1 (part 2): The flight and lay over

Departed from manila... 7:05pm

SQ is great... from the hot towels, to the menu, and the great entertainment system

Picture

I hate getting cut off from the movie when there's 3 minutes left.... grrr.... esp when it was the finale...

It seems that will be my lasting memory of this flight... not the awesome food, or the hot towels, or the on flight usb charger.... but that my movie, "the quartet" was cut off right before the finale where the quartet finally was about to sing...

esp if it takes the airplane another 30 minutes to land!

Picture

oh well, this 1st leg is about to end and my exploration of Changi airport is about to commence. Who can feel bummed when there's so much to look forward to? :)

Arrival Changi: 10:22pm

Time: 6:41pm (standing in line at the check-out counter)

Had little trouble sleeping last night because of typhoon Gorio (it was signal #2) which may be the cause for me feeling sleepy here in NAIA Terminal 1.

There are 17 of us in the group who are travelling together from the Philippines, 5 from Luzon, 3 from Visayas, and 9 from Mindanao under the leadership of Pastor Jobbie Yabut, the SSD Youth Director.

my stuff... 1 check in... 2 hand carry... (apparently they're really strict with separate check in, despite being in a group of 17).

Had to take a selfie before boarding...

Embarking on a Journey of Firsts

Jesus in the City from GC Youth Ministries on Vimeo.

The president of the Seventh-day Adventist church speaks about the 2013 Impact South Africa event.
In 2003, the 1st trip I took outside the Philippines was to attend the 1st ever World Conference on Youth and Community Service a.k.a. Impact Thailand.  In 2007, I attended the 2nd one in Taiwan.  It was there, during the closing ceremony that they announced that the 3rd conference would be in South Africa. It was then that I decided to go.

So, after 6 years... and on and off saving for this event... I will finally be attending the 3rd... but this time, in a country (South Africa) and continent (Africa) I've never been in... that a climate I've never had (winter).  But this time I would have a more significant part in the whole event than just a youth delegate. I will be singing with the praise team organized by the General Conference. So I will be taking you to some "behind-the-scenes" of the convention (if possible).

Let me take you along with me on this 2 week journey, and I hope you'll be blessed, as much as I'm sure I will be.

P.S. I will also be assisting AIIAS with regards to having a booth in the convention site. So I may be meeting with alot of AIIAS Alumni and potential students.
